AVID Christmas Caroling At Blossom Valley Inn

AVID Christmas Caroling At Blossom Valley Inn

By Eric De Dios

On December 12th, Holtville Middle School and Holtville High School’s AVID program went to the Blossom Valley Inn to sing Christmas carols to the elderly and converse with them. This is a great opportunity for community spirit and Christmas cheer. AVID students are taught the importance of scholarly and community responsibility.

AVID students have visited the Blossom Valley Inn for the Christmas Season doing various activities and having fun with the seniors. Together Avid students and Blossom Valley In community residents have created Christmas-themed decorations to decorate the retirement home with reindeer decorations, ornaments and paper mache christmas trees.

This is the 3rd year of the AVID program doing this annual activity at the retirement home spending the afternoon with the elderly. It is a great opportunity for students and helps bring Christmas cheer to the retirement home.

At the retirement home, the AVID students sang Christmas songs like Jingle Bell Rock, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, A Holly Jolly Christmas. It was a fun afternoon for everyone involved.

The AVID program at Holtville High School next, plans to go on a field trip to Arizona Western College.
