City Cleanup Day is Saturday
It’s time to clean out the garage and tidy up the back yard. The City of Holtville will be hosting the first of two semi-annual cleanup days on Saturday morning.
City residents will be able to drop off all types of waste at the old city dump just south of town on Bonds Corner Road, which is the southern extension of Walnut Avenue. The collection will run from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.
Among the items that can be dropped off are furniture, appliances, yard waste, electronics and tires.
Furniture includes couches, chairs, tables, mattresses and box springs. Appliances include washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves and water heaters.
Yard waste includes items like grass clippings and tree branches. Electronics are things like televisions, computers, laptops, printers, microwaves, copiers and fax machines.
Each resident will be limited to getting rid of nine car or light truck tires, and they may include the wheels. Anyone hauling more than nine needs a special waiver from the environmental health department.
The cleanup day is open only to residents of the City of Holtville. Residents must show their driver’s license and water bill as proof. No businesses or commercial dumping will be allowed.
The event is co-sponsored by CR&R, the city’s contracted solid waste hauler. Crews will be bringing in lots of dumpsters and containers to load everything in, and will be transporting waste that can be recycled to the appropriate facilities.
