Longtime Teacher Bruce Deloach to Retire From HHS
By Carolina Ornelas (Viking Page Edition)
Bruce Deloach has been teaching for thirty-two years. His very first teaching job was at Vista High School in North San Diego, and there he worked for twenty-two years.
Then he moved to the Imperial Valley where he became a high school teacher at Holtville High School. He taught History and Geography there for another ten years, and says Holtville High School was where he wanted to be teaching.
Nearing his retirement, Deloach was asked why he decided to finally close the chapter on his teaching career. His response was, “I want to do new things. I’d like to travel and continue making t-shirts, and just relax.”
Then when asked what he would miss the most about teaching, he said the kids. “It’s just always fun. New kids every year and we always end up having a fun year.”
He says he’s really going to miss everything about teaching, the staff and students will miss everything about him and his teaching.
