Golf Tournament, Ball Drop To Raise Funds For Cancer Foundation

A local golf tournament that helps raise funds for local families dealing with cancer will be followed by a helicopter dropping numbered balls as a new take on a standard raffle.

The second annual Halos & Tiaras Golf Balls From Heaven and Golf Tournament will be held Saturday at the Imperial Palms Resort just outside Holtville.
The tournament gets underway at 8 a.m., with registration beginning at 7. After the four-man teams complete their 18 holes, lunch will be served and then the helicopter will take to the air.

Numbered golf balls are being sold for $100 each, and the ball that lands in or closest to the hole they are dropped on will win a $10,000 prize.
Halos & Tiaras is a local foundation formed to aid the families of children diagnosed with cancer. It helps cover expenses that insurance won’t, such as travel expenses and motel stays for hospital visits out of the county.

A very few balls were still available for purchase at presstime. Anyone wanting to get in on the contest should call Robin Iten at (760) 554-7620.
