Passport Fair To Be Held Saturday, April 29

A passport fair will be held at the local post office on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Appointments won’t be necessary for anyone applying for a new passport or seeking to renew their existing one. The state department is expecting a surge of renewals this year on the tenth anniversary of the requirement for passports to all countries, including Canada and Mexico.

It will take about six weeks for a renewal, so passport holders should plan ahead.
Those applying will need to bring their birth certificate or naturalization papers, as well as a valid identification such as a driver’s license, passport card or book, military ID, Certificate of Citizenship of Certificate of Naturalization.

Fees vary depending on age and the type of passport wanted. A passport card is $30 for adults 16 years of age or older. A passport book is $110 for adults, and both a card and book is $140 for adults.

For minors under 16, a passport card is $15, a passport book is $80 and the fee for both is $95.

Additionally, a $25 processing/acceptance fee is requited, along with a $15 charge for the necessary photos.

The passport cards and books must be paid for with either a personal check or money order, while the processing and photo fees can be paid by cash, check, credit or debit card or money order.
