HUSD Employee Appreciation Day

It’s getting toward the end of the 2016-17 school year, which means the Holtville Unified School District School Board is hosting the Employee Appreciation Day Ice Cream Social.
The event happened Wednesday, May 17th 2017 from 1:45pm – 3:30pm at the Finley Elementary School Cafeteria.
The Holtville High School Jazz Band played for the enjoyment of the staff and all in attendance. Upon arriving staff were greeted by the HUSD School Board who served ice cream sundaes and handed out raffle tickets for prizes such as gift certificates to local businesses, gift cards and sacks of onions.
An appetizer spread with chicken wings and vegetable platters was also available to staff who socialized and waited for Superintendent Celso Ruiz to give his end of the year address.

“We’ve had a great year thanks to you. Really, every day should be staff appreciation day.”
The microphone was handed over to School Board member John Hawk, “I got a call from a teacher at another site who asked me, ‘how do you get a job at Holtville’, that’s because of the great job all of you are doing. There are good things happening in the district thanks to all of you.”
Finally, after the speeches given on behalf of the School Board and Superintendent; the raffle could begin.
A table with prizes was laid out as ticket numbers were called. In the end, HUSD staff was thanked for all their hard work. The Ice Cream Social is the unofficial end of the year celebration for HUSD staff and marks the end of a successful year.
