The Holtville Boys and Girls Club held their summer program awards ceremony on Friday, August 11th at 1 p.m, at 548 Chestnut in Holtville. Parents and guardians of club members were invited to attend the ceremony. Drinks and snacks were prepared by Boys and Girls Club members. Club members performed an antibullying skit, and club members danced the Cha Cha Slide for the enjoyment of those in attendance.
An actress portraying Disney’s Moana lip synched and danced to the song “How Far I’ll Go”, to the delight of the smaller children in attendance. Kids Party Pals sponsored Moana’s performance. The performance was a special surprise for club members in attendance. Moana was also on hand for photo opportunities.
The Boys and Girls Club summer program awards were given to club members who had perfect attendance, good citizenship or helped with fundraising. Summer program awards all came with an award certificate with the recipient’s name. Award recipient’s also received school supplies provided by the Boys and Girls Club.
All club members were given the opportunity to sign up for free haircut gift certificates provided by Cuts and Fades Barber Shop and Salon to groom them for going back to school. Cuts and Fades Barber Shop and Salon will also be hosting a marathon back to school hair cutting event Saturday, August 19th.
Boys and Girls Club membership is $25 per year and permits children to attend the after school program. Boys and Girls Club after school program activities include help with homework, educational games, physical activities and a healthy snack.
The Boys and Girls club after school program hosts member’s ages 5 through 18 years old. The club operates from 2:30 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. at 548 Chestnut in Holtville.
