Holtville High School has half the teams earning top spots on the CIF-San Diego Section All-Academic teams list for the Fall 2017 season.
The Viking varsity volleyball team took top honors in the Imperial Region, with local players posting a 3.71 grade point average. The girls cross country team was right behind them with a 3.66 GPA. HHS girls golf team members had a 3.59 GPA. Team GPAs are computed with unweighted grades because not all schools offer the same number of weighted courses.
CIF also gives out Section Scholar awards to those juniors or seniors on each team who have the highest cumulative unweighted grade point average.
Angelie Gandevia on the volleyball team and Landry Guillen on the golf team both earned a 4.28 GPA. Alexa Strahm lead the cross country team with a 4.25.
Brawley High School took top honors in the other three Fall sports, making it a clean sweep for the two schools of the valley’s division.
