Holtville Police Briefs: Feb. 23-28

HOLTVILLE — The following reports were collected from the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office call logs for the Holtville substation from Feb. 23, through Feb. 28.

SUNDAY, FEB. 28

10:17 a.m.: A female subject called the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department to report that her uncle had received a phone call from an unknown caller who threatened to hurt her and pretended to have kidnapped her.

11:39 p.m.: A resident on Beale Avenue called police to report a suspicious, half-opened Amazon box sitting on the sidewalk.

5 a.m.: A 10th Street resident was getting ready for a morning run when he noticed that his pop-up camper trailer had been stolen.

SATURDAY, FEB. 27

9:42 p.m.: Five Imperial County Sheriff’s Office units responded to the Barbara Worth Country Club after an employee reported that a group of about 10 subjects was trying to attack another employee in the parking lot. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Robert Benavidez called the incident a “verbal altercation” and said that nobody was injured and nobody was arrested. He was unable to comment further as the case is still under investigation.

FRIDAY, FEB. 26

6:34 a.m.: A resident of Pine Avenue called police to report that somebody had broken their front window during the night.

7:06 p.m.: A subject at the Holtville Taco Shop called police to report a minor fender bender between a maroon Charger and a white Nissan. Both drivers involved in the accident left the scene before police arrived.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 24

11:08 a.m.: A Grape Avenue resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from somebody claiming to be the police and asking for personal information.

10:19 p.m.: A resident at the corner of Brentwood Avenue and East Eighth Street reported a suspicious woman in a dark-colored hoodie looking into their backyard.

7:30 p.m.: A Circle Drive resident called police to report a suspicious heavy-set woman in glasses hanging around in the alley behind the residence. The reporting party told police that they believe the woman may be hiding drugs in the alley.

TUESDAY, FEB. 23

6:08 a.m.: A resident on Bonds Corner Road reported that somebody had broken into their tool shed and stole several tools.

7:33 a.m.: The Sheriff’s Office received a report that a work bus had been stolen from a yard on Zenos Road. Police located the bus in some bushes at the corner of Holt and Norrish roads.
